One Day States_Part 1 - Orissa, West Bengal

After taking a long pause I am finally updating my blog.. Nothing bad has happened but it was just like - I was so much absorbed in my trip that couldnt find time to write :)

So, last I wrote was about Andhra Pradesh. I left from Srikakulam and was driving to Bhubhneswar, capital of Orissa & famous places nearby is famous Hindu temple at Puri and also scenic beaches..

On my way I got to know about Chilaka Lake - best about it I heard is - if you go on a boat ride in it, you may get chance to get the company of dolphins swimming besides you .. :) but it was bit late for me and I was destined to reach Bhubhneswar anyhow.. Soooo - I took a minor pause but prefered driving, drivinggg and drivinggggg.. :P

So here I entered Orissa and Andhra Pradesh border.. Few Kilometer long queue of trucks and other vehicles waiting for the clearance from the Toll Place and being on motorbike - I drifted between the trucks, from the corners, through the wrong lanes and within few minutes I was through from all that mess.. :) :)

Meet Prasad! :)
I was already late and had enough to travel before dusk but decided to take a tea break on my way.. Had my first cup of tea and just started talking with Prasad-- this teenage boy has just completed his high school and is staying 50 km away from his home and has mother and 2 sisters in his family.. And, was working part time in this stall to earn some money and as he said, he is the only person running the expenses for his family..

I :: So, Prasad, What do you want to be in life?
Prasad :: Dada (Big brother), mai Aadmi (grown-up man) banna chahta hu (I want to be a grown-up man)..
I smiled & genuinely asked him :: Okie, What will make you Aadmi? How do you define it actually?
Prasad :: Dada, I am the only earner of my family & the day when I can earn enough to pay back the money we borrowed, get my younger sisters educated and married,, that day I will become Aadmi .. and that will be the day when I will go back to my home - till then I wont be going back & show my face to them..
I was shocked & said :: I appreciate your responsibilities for your family & since I can just imagine what you are going through but still you are the one facing the reality so you may know it better about good and bad and being Aadmi and all.. but Prasad, how your family feel when they have not seen you from longer time and will not see you for say couple of more years till you earn that much fortune to fulfill your dreams??
Prasad :: My mother calls me everyday & I dont pick her call since I know she just want me to come back home but going home will make me feel miserable if I wont be earning anything..
I :: How much do you make every month dear?
Prasad :: 1500 Indian Rupees
I  :: How much shall I pay for my 3 cups of tea?
Prasad :: 15 Indian Rupees
I :: Ok, keep this 500 Indian Rupees,, and I am trying to buy your 10 days salary and could you please stop being tough guy and show your face to your family?? Please!

I dont know that I did right or wrong .. I dont want to know.. but I did what I feel that day.. I trust him that he had gone his home... I hope his mother would have smiled and given his little Aadmi a tight hug,,, I hope - If at that moment I could have been with my Mom aswell.. I cried.. I can not forget his smile.. I wish for his better life.. And I dont know that - When will I become Aadmi? And What I actually want or achieve to be Aadmi?? I am still a learner - absolute blank.. not confused but clear about I dont know nothing and that is all Ok.. :) :)

And, I just moved on to explore more of Orissa.. I dont see my watch in evening.. I just see the position of Sun.. :) I have got a kind of idea about when shall I take of Sun Shades off and put-on my Night Shades ;)

It got closer to darkness,,

And there I saw the glimpse of Chilaka lake.. :)

Finally, reached the noisest part of human settlement called City.. this was Bhubhneswar..

And next morning, I was focused to leave State of Orissa and move to State of West Bengal - to the city of Joy - KOLKATA (earlier called as Calcutta) which was some 470Km away  :)

I found West Bengal much greener than Orissa but still that wasnt enough greenery.. farms were growing some crops but still not as like other states I have been to..

On my way, I found poor fellas dragging their motorbike to nearest petrol pump.. Shit happens!

And finally I managed to reach at the border of both the states :: it was as mess as my last day experience of crossing the border.. but no complains since I was on my 2 wheeler which can find its way through almost all kind of chaos made my traffic jams.. ;)

And it was getting closer to dusk and I was trying to reach safer but faster but I knew it that I couldnt make it before 2200 hours that night..

It was still 70km to Kolkata and I really thought of taking a nice tea-break to stretch my legs and arms and till then my Enfield found its fans ;) West Bengal still preserve its old culture and traditions at greater extent and I was 'Anuj Da' (Big Brother Anuj) by all.. :P thats a word of respect ..

Finally I reached Kolkata but I had my arrangement of spending that night at IIM Kolkata - Indian Institute of Management (it is among premier of all other management schools in India) .. and I was excited to reach there but it was still some 20 km far.. It was Ankur (my colleague in previous company) who fixed this stay of mine.. thanks to him .. :) I think I am reengineering the concept of couch-surfing ;)

Finally, I reached there.. greeted by Vishal and Anuj (same name boy :) )  and we had nice chit-chat that night and early morning next day it was time to leave the campus and move to another state called JHARKHAND..

But before that - I thought of taking snaps of the campus.. ;)

And my bike lovers :) :)

I have not covered anything else in Kolkata.. people who will know about it, will really yell at me but as said - its my trip and I chose to leave.. :)

famous yellow Ambassador taxis :)

beautiful flyovers..

And after travelling tens of kilometers I started experiencing heavy wind, rainfall and dust all around.. ;)

But the matra I had for me that time was - Dont stop, keep moving, this cloud is a just a mess :P And it worked for me - it wasnt raining much later..

And after a long long time, I had my tea in KULHAD (cups made of soil & that really gives a different taste to your tea - atleast I feel so :) )

And now I was very near to Jharkhand border and just 1 Km in Jharkhand, I was about to stop my ride for the day since I had a plan to meet my old buddy - SANKET and his family at Chirkunda - famous for coal mines..

And saw this field of Crap & that too parallel to main road.. firstly its filthy, and secondly I know what the respective cleaners will do is - put fire on this land.. and then there will be hell lot of smoke all around and very tough for drivers to make it safe way ahead.. Crappy! :(

And, now I was much closer to destination - wet roads and wow! smell of soil which comes just after the rain... I was loving it .. :)

Entered Jharkhand border...

And there is a big big story about my stay there which I will mention in my next blog.. :) Meet my friend, Sanket & his father standing outside the fencing of their Grand Vila home.. :)

Finally, I reached my destination and it was
