About about Kerala - God's Own Country

I finally said good-bye to Karnataka and now it was time to get into Kerala from the north of it and had vision to drive it till south and reaching then driving till Kanyakumari - Union Territory..

Have travelled from Kasargod -> Bakel Fort -> Kozhikode -> Fort Kochi -> Munnar -> Verkala Beach -> Trivendrum -> Kovalam -> Azhimala Beach -> Poovar -> Poyyuur -> Kanyakumari ..
Almost 1600 km and more and yes I did it all.. :) So here is the snapshot of my travel since it was soooo beautiful that I can not give the entire detail.. :)

Started from Mangalore then and in half an hour I was in Kerala.. :) Started with 2 lane highway with not-so-bad quality of roads... worst part is - it is just 2 LANE highway in entire state and it was sooooooo dangerous since vehicles from both the sides wants to overtake and then shit happens.. :(

First city was Kasaragod it is the northmost tip of Kerala.. very cultural,,

Not sure where I will be going in Kerala that moment I checked with locals and they suggested me to go to Bekal Fort.. Beautiful, scenic and antique kinda fort.. :)

KFC must sue them.. this kinda chain are there everywhere.. :P

But chose to have my first Kerala delicacy in another restaurant.. and it was Yummmmyy.. :)

Seeing a group of fishermen I stopped my bike and was watching them from distant and then they called me to show that how they prepare the nets for fishing and also told me about their plan.. wow!! it was a combined team effort of around 50 fishermen.. :)

 And beautiful fishermen boats..

These private buses of Red, Blue, Green, Purple and other flashy colors are the most dangerous creatures on roads.. they actually race on highways and overtake the other such creatures in middle of anywhere to pick the passengers.. and absolutely disobey the traffic rules.. and to us on 2 wheelers they often ignored.. I really had tough time in overtaking them and understanding their moves.. :(

Then there was a Hindu ceremony which was celebrated on the middle of the highway and all roads were jammed by 3 elephants, couple of dancers and 100s of devotees.. it took us 30 min to get through some 50 meters unless they realised to give us the way... but I am bit weird since I enjoyed watching this ceremony and rest were cursing them., :) :)

Finallyyyy I reached Kozhikode.. my first destination in Kerala.. and also home of Indian's one of the most premier institute for management studies.. I spent my night in a cozy hotel and was all ready to leave for Guruvayoor temple.. very famous one and purpose for me going there was majorly to fulfil the promise which my father has made to God when I was Kid in exchange for my good health - I have been very ill those days..

I saw this advertisement of some jeweller and what is MARADONA doing here?? haha!! Crazy but true.. :)

Finally, I reached Guruvayoor temple.. I have been asked to wear Lungi as dress code.. actually its a wrap-around instead of pants and was with naked Chest.. truely a beautiful temple and a good feeling to be in.. I donated 82 Kgs of Banana inside.. actually donation of anything of my weight is what my dad has promised to offer to God.. :) I won his Smile-of-the-day award.. :)

Then I moved forward to go to Fort Kochi..

And met this guy Subi - who helped in telling the shortcut of going to Fort Kochi.. i.e. through Ferry.. He helped me in reaching the Jetty Port and then also paid for my ticket as a friendly gesture and it just took me 5 min to reach there otherwise it could be 22Km ride from the place where I was standing.. :)

And spent my eye there and I was destined to reach Munnar - the lust green place famous for tea-gardens.. :) but saw these navel ships first.. and also Port..

And after some time the hilly area started..

And finally I reached..

After a long time Enfield chased its favorite hilly zigzag roads...

I close not to stay in Munnar city but in Tea Garden Valley.. :)

So narrow roads all through Valley..

And on every cross road there were hoardings of Hotels and Resorts,,

Had 1000000 cups of tea there.. :P and pleased to see this beautiful frame.. :)

After checking into nice hotel I have been on my ride through valley,, and beautiful sunset view through mountain..

So, after having my great time at Munnar, I was told by Savio - receptionist at my hotel and now a friend that I must explore VERKALA BEACH .. and then I just made my mind.. :)

On my way I saw the locals plucking the tea leaves.. :)

Had Dosa on my way.. :)

 And beautiful Church views.. :)

And finally I reached Verkala beach.. :) Trust me - this is must to visit in Kerala.. awesome place.. and a bit hippy place.. :)

Kids were having their FUN.. :)

Beach side Shacks and awesome foood and drinks.. :)

And met an Italian,, very interesting person playing with small pets and having her time relaxing on this beach side restaurant.. :) As we started chatting I got to know that she has been in India from past 2 months and also told her good and bad experiences and yes I was pretty touched and experiencing empathy.. then I shown my Enfield and then wished her happy and safe journey ahead.. time to move to Kanyakumari..

Beautiful Mosque.. Dark clouds.. and then it rained in bits and bytes on all my way.. smell of soil was amusing my mood and again the lush green surrounding was mesmerising.. :)

And then suddenly I met this guy - Shamnath,, when we started Racing on the highway I dont know.. but yeah it ended up he winning it and both of us sipping tea on the road side saving ourselves from heavy rains.. :)

Shamnath - I will not forget this character in the novel of my this joy-ride.. he pro-actively asked me to follow up and with his little English both of us managed to understand each other,,, Firstly he took me to Kovalom Beach.. Eight on Ten .. beautiful .. :)

Then we saw Azhimala Beach.. woooofff!!! Nine on Ten (due to less people and cleanliness) :)

Then it was time for Chowara,,, What a view?? Countless Coconut trees.. homes of fishermen .. and lots of fishing boats.. :)

Then we reached Shamnath's home place - Poovar .. And I had my view of famous back-waters.. :)

And then I was taken to a view point in Poyyoor - a place which is on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.. Now I am on the verge of crossing borders,,

But Shamnath want me to meet his friends.. Not one but many.. and all full of life.. group of 22 23 years old.. and all passionate about motorbike and making trips.. :) With common interests we gelled up pretty fast.. :) The background is their group's first meeting place.. :)

Then we went to second meeting place.. and I realised I am with around 15 guys and all came to meet me and my story.. :)

And then the third meeting place.. :) :)

They asked me to see the sunset.. :) and yes it was mesmerising experience.. :)

And finally I said goodbye and at around 2100 hours I reached Kanyakumari.. its a union territory and a place where 3 oceans meet.. Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.. Yes - Lucky Me.. :) I saw that point aswell but details will be in next blog.. keeeeep reading.. :)

Checking in goooood hotel - with a view of Vivekanand Rock and vast Ocean with a view of Sunrise from my room.. its the same place which has a Sunrise and Sunset point both.. :)
